Bobby Cahoon Marine Construction has proudly served Eastern North Carolina since 1999, earning a reputation for quality, reliability, and craftsmanship. Originally founded by Bobby and Teresa Cahoon, the business has deep roots in the community and a long-standing commitment to honesty, integrity and hands-on service. In 2024, after 25 years of ownership, the Cahoons made the decision to pass the torch to long-time team member Derrick Ipock, who continues the legacy with the same values the company was built on.
I’m Derrick Ipock, the new owner of Bobby Cahoon Marine Construction. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside Bobby and Teresa since 2015, and during that time, they taught me more than just the technical side of the job—they showed me how to run a business with integrity, honesty, and respect.
I was born and raised in Eastern North Carolina and have spent my entire life around the water. With both of my parents in the construction and contracting world, I naturally followed in their footsteps. The knowledge and experience I’ve gained over the years allows me to approach every project with a deep understanding of both construction and coastal living. My goal is to carry forward the legacy built by the Cahoons while continuing to grow and evolve our services to meet the needs of today’s clients.
I believe that doing good work means doing right by people—and that’s exactly how we’ll continue to do business.
Founded in June 1999 by Bobby and Teresa Cahoon, the company began as a transition from their family’s long-standing logging business into the growing marine construction industry. As the coastal areas expanded, so did the demand for high-quality, reliable marine services—and Bobby Cahoon Construction rose to the occasion.
Over the last 25+ years, Bobby and Teresa built one of the most trusted names in Eastern North Carolina by staying true to their word, delivering consistent results, and running their business with timeless values: courtesy, honesty, and trust. They believed that every project was more than a job—it was a relationship. As innovators in the field, they developed new, efficient construction methods that helped their work stand the test of time, especially during hurricane season.
After a long and successful career, Bobby and Teresa have retired and passed the torch to their long-time estimator, project manager, and superintendent—Derrick Ipock. Derrick began working with them in 2015 and learned firsthand what it means to do business the right way. He brings his own background in construction and design, along with the same commitment to honor, craftsmanship, and integrity that the Cahoons built this company on.
Today, Bobby Cahoon Marine Construction continues to serve Eastern North Carolina with a wide range of marine and land development services—from traditional concrete docks to seawalls, boat lifts, pile driving, demolition, and commercial site work. Our team is ready to take on both residential and large-scale projects to fit your specific needs.
We still stand behind our motto:
“The Only Marine Contractor… You’ll Ever Need.”
Headquartered in New Bern, NC, we proudly serve Craven, Pamlico, Carteret, and the surrounding Eastern North Carolina counties.
